100 Years - A great concept - the websites uses photograph albums to give a very personal viewpoint of the past 100 years in Bradford's history through the life stories of six adults all closely connected with Lister's Mill. There are also photos taken by five younger people, each related in some way to the adults. The site can be explored by both subject and person.

Rigby's World of Egypt - Very content heavy and so probably more suitable for upper key stage 2 and research purposes. Loads here, never-the-less.

24 Hour Museum The 24 Hour Museum is the UK’s national virtual museum. Their growing database includes over 2,500 museums, galleries and heritage attractions. You can search their site for what’s on in the UK by place, date or by any subject you choose. They feature regular news and exhibition stories on the site, along with Internet trails produced in partnership with museums and galleries.

The Seven Wonders of the World - A site full of facts and information about the seven wonders of the ancient world.

Ancient Egypt - A well-designed website about all aspects of Ancient Egypt. A British Museum site.

Anne Frank Center USA - Perhaps most suitable for older juniors, this site tells the story of Anne Frank. Particularly good is the scrapbook which gives a brief account of her life.

Guy Fawkes and Bonfire Night - A website from America about the gunpowder plot.

Egyptian Pharoahs - Tons and tons of facts and information to be found in this part of the Museum of Natural History's Virtualogy website.

Kings and Queens of Ancient Egypt - Facts, figures and information.

Virtual Tour of Rome - Take a virtual tour around the ancient buildings of Rome.

Bonfire Night - Another site about the gunpowder plot and Guy Fawkes, including safety information.

History Today - Information on just about every era of history from this, the website of the magazine.

The History of London (HOLNET) - This NGfL approved site includes information about the nation's capital during the Victorian era as well as its struggle during WWII.

The Mary Rose - Dedicated to the ill-fated flag ship of King Henry VIII, the Mary Rose, this site provides facts about the ship, life on board and a virtual tour.

Museums of the World - An ongoing project to put the world's museums into one, searchable database. This could develop into a very valuable resource.

History Time Trail - Nettlesworth Primary School - A school website with information about most areas of history in the National Curriculum. The section on WWII seems particularly good.

The Ancient Olympics - Contains facts and information about the Ancient Greek Olympic Games as well as a tour of Olympia its self. Loads here!

Roman Baths - Take a slide tour of the Roman baths and pump room at Bath.

Sainsbury's Archives Virtual Museum - This website contains a wealth of material, including photographic and documentary sources on Sainsbury's in the period 1869 to 1900 which is presented in a very visual way. An NGfL approved site.

SchoolHistory - These are the primary pages of a huge website (highly commended in the BECTA/The Guardian UK Education Website Awards 2002) built and maintained by one hard-working teacher named Mr Andrew Field. Contains many interesting links (which I will be following at a later date, you can be sure of it!) as well as some original plans and worksheets. Check here for your current history topic.

The Pharaohs Network - An easy to use website devoted to the Pharaohs of Ancient Egypt.

The Tower of London - The Tower of London's website. Lots to look at and do. Some good information about WWII here, although I like the ghost stories, myself!

Tudor History - Loads of information here about every aspect of the Tudors, from particular monarchs to everyday life.

Westall's War - An account of WWII through the eyes of Robert Westall, author of The Machine Gunners.

Victoria and Albert Museum - Learning - Schools and Teachers - The V&A offers a wide range of online resources and professional development opportunities for teachers.

See Your Name in Hieroglyphics - Part of the King-Tut Treasures site. You can type any word or phrase and have it translated into hieroglyphics

Vikings - Vikings! The word conjures up image of wild, barbaric, sea faring men, intent on setting their mark on their less warlike neighbours with fire and sword. From the land of ice and giants, they swept across Europe like a forest fire raping, pillaging and destroying all in their path.

BBC - Walk through Time - You can play games like "Odd one out" and "What came First". Aimed at 7-9 year olds

Battle of Hastings - find out all about this famous battle and why King Harold lost it. Play the game. Quite a lot to read, here.

The Imperial War Museum - a very large site with online exhibitions. Listen to war veterans give firsthand accounts of the Battle of Britain. Look in the section about codes.

Ancient Greece - see what life was like: the houses they lived in and the food they ate. Quite a lot of reading to do.

Ancient Egypt for kids - tons of information! Pictures and sound effects too.

Tutankhamun - This site has plenty of pictures of the treasures of Tutankhamun

Greek Myths and Gods - This site contains work by the children of of The Manor CP School, Long Hanborough, Oxon. You can find out about the myths of the Trojan Horse and Jason and the Golden Fleece - and plenty of others

The Viking Pages - from the Ballyduff School in Ireland - pages set up by some of the pupils .
