This section has been created
for links to online resources useful for interactive whiteboards. I have been using an interactive whiteboard in my classroom for a year now, and I use it for everything. I don't use my 'normal' whiteboard at all! With even more emphasis being placed upon interactive whiteboards in the near future, here are some of the best places to find online resources to use with an interactive whiteboard. Some links here are can also be found elsewhere in schoolsource, but many are new. I hope you find them useful, and that you will find some of your own to share with us!

@berNET Online Resources for Aberdeen teachers - a useful directory of links relating to interactive resources, including many resources. This website is very good for online resources all round.
Ambleside Literacy Resources - this page would be incomplete without a reference to Ambleside. These resources continue to amaze me as many have been made by the children themselves. Contains spelling tools, games and quizzes. Their Numeracy resources are also excellent, and can be found here
Athena - contains resources, lesson plans, worksheets and simple advice. Looks like the site is in development, so keep checking back.
BBC Schools - all sorts of interactive games and resources available here. This page is a sort of "site map" for KS2 teachers. Some resources are better suited to the interactive whiteboard than others, although most come with supporting materials such as worksheets, lesson plans and notes.
BECTA Summary of research [pdf] - a report by BECTA about interactive whiteboards explaining what they are and what the benefits are.
Birmingham Grid for Learning Whiteboard Resources - categorised by subject, this page contains tons of interactive resources. This other page links to other resources, some of which are not strictly interactive whiteboard material, but all come with supporting notes and suggestions for other resources.
CLEO - interactive resources for all subjects with an often local theme. From Cumbria Lancashire Education online.
Count On Magnet - interactive games and resources based upon materials by Charles and Juliet Snape of Circa Maths Magazine.
E-Chalk - free resources for for teachers to use with interactive whiteboards and data projectors.
Embedding ICT - this is going to become a very important subject. This site supports the use of the CD ROMs "Using ICT in Year 3" and "Using ICT in Year 6". The site contains sample lesson plans and resources such as Power Point presentations and other interactive resources. The site also has a forum for visitors to share their thoughts. Not much going on here when I visited, but could get busier.
Grid Club - a superb site containing loads of high quality resources for all subjects. My class love "Radius of the Lost Ark". The site is owned by Channel 4, who have sadly decided that they want to start charging schools for using their resources which (at the time of writing) are currently free to use. I recommend getting in quick before you have to pay!
Interactive Resources - although this is a commercial site , it offers online trials of all its Numeracy games. The idea is that you try out the games and then buy the CDs. However, if you can put up with the words "Evaluation Version"across the screen, the resources are very effective as they are. The are resources for all aspects of Numeracy here with some very limited resources for Literacy too.
Interactive Teaching Programs (ITPs) - unless you have been living with your head under a stone for the last 12 months, you will know about these! It's the National Numeracy Strategy's "blue screen" resources for interactive whiteboards. Many say they are boring, I think that some are confusing, but they remain good quality, free resources.
Interactive Whiteboard Research Forum - this website points out that there is currently little research that actually justifies the expense of using interactive whiteboards in the classroom. The site aims to be a forum for "discussion and debate surrounding interactive whiteboards and for publication of / links to research findings as they emerge".
Magnetic Numbers - don't be fooled by the very simple "fridge" game on the front page. Look into some of the other magnetic number resources and you will be pleasantly surprised. I was particularly impressed with the magnetic place value board, although I would like it to go further than 100s.
Maths Online Games Room - interactive maths activities including number grid activities, counting sticks, investigations and handling data activities.
Mathszone - This is a very useful site. I use it all the time. It is essentially a directory of interactive resources for use in Numeracy, with the links categorised by learning objectives.
National Whiteboard Network - resources and support for the use of interactive whiteboards in classrooms. Although this site has come highly recommended from many sources, it appeared to be having technical problems at the time of writing, so I can't tell you any more at the moment! The DfES has this to say about the NWN.
Number Gym - Excellent free resource of KS1 & 2 activities, written in Flash, comprising number lines, number grids, numbers to words and fractions activities. Ideal for use with an interactive whiteboard. Thanks to Melvyn for submitting this link.
Puzzle Maths - Flash games from Channel 4. While very colourful and well made, I find these games a little too small. As such, these might be better suited for individual , higher ability pupils.
Richard Atkins Primary School - this website contains some simple resources for use with interactive whiteboards. The resources are mainly aimed at Numeracy, but there are also resources for Literacy, Geography and Science as well.
Smart Education - a directory of links to interactive resources available from a variety of other websites. What is good about this site, is that as well as categorising the resources by subject, you get a screen-shot of the resource to look at as well. Does list some American resources, so watch out!
Stockton TRAIN Interactive Resources - a small list of resources for interactive whiteboards, some of which are very specific to particular whiteboards of software.
Sums Online - the website of a company that sells interactive Numeracy resources on CDs, but in this "Playground" section, you can try seven games for free. The games are, I feel, a bit young (even those aimed at older Key Stage 2 pupils) but they are still good.
Teaching Ideas: Interactive Files and Resources - the section from the well-known website for teachers in the UK to share resources that catalogues interactive resources that have been submitted. The files are categorised by subject and are in a variety of formats - Easiteach, Textease, Activboard and Smart Notebook, but also more common formats such as MS Power Point, Word, Excel or webpages.
Time To Teach - a long, long list of resources. A little jumbled, but there are some gems in there!
